Not Mayberry

Can a shy, retiring teacher from the big city find true happiness in the small town of Wilkesboro NC, which even the locals call "Moonshine Capital of the World."

And this is what it looks like in Boone...

... with another snow crazed dog. This one starts getting in touch with his wolf ancestors. Have no idea what that is about, except that if you scroll down here to "Dog Howls at Snow" you can see for yourself.

As for the little lummox, he is still delighted with the snow. We went for another long walk out through the fields between here and Moravian Creek. He was interested in everything. Unfortunately with 4 in legs he bottoms out immediately, and then has to bound through the snow as if he were on springs, which he is happy to do. Endlessly. I was wearing big rubber boots and tried to keep up.

Soon we found kids sledding down the big hill behind Wilkes Elementary School. He was interested in them for awhile, then we went home.

That evening little Mr Miggs came down with his family and wanted to play with the lummox. The was a slight difference of opinion on what that could entail, but they worked it out. When Mr Miggs left, however, the little lummox collapsed on the couch and hasn't moved.

a big day for a little dog.
