Not Mayberry

Can a shy, retiring teacher from the big city find true happiness in the small town of Wilkesboro NC, which even the locals call "Moonshine Capital of the World."

I dined at a Cuban restaurant in Boone today...

... called El Tropical. It was good. I had pan y bistec con papas fritas. Better know perhaps as a steak sandwich with fries. I recommend the place. Now I just have to get Carmen up to the High Country so we can both enjoy it.

I went with my friend, the former Republican consultant. He told me has secretly been volunteering for the local Democratic party. Ah well. I think I have talked him into voting against Liddy, but I don't think I can talk him into voting for "that one."

But you never know.

LOL...

Glad you enjoyed lunch, I did too. My lobster bisque (whatever that is in Cuban), was deliciouso ;)

And, I am very close to voting a straight Democratic ticket... Check your email. Support Bev Perdue, not that moron from Charlotte, Patty Mack.

Sincerely,
Your "Former Republican Consultant" Friend!

And all it took was a bit of beer therapy! Who knew Republicanism was so easily cured? Welcome to the side of Light!

As I know this former consultant fairly well and what he has been through the past 3 years I dare say it took more than beer therapy to get him to this point. Ah, if it were only that easy to change minds! As for me personally, I wish I could come to as definate a conclusion. My Daddy always said "Vote for the man/woman not the party." Seems now a days it's hard to really find the true essence of "the man/woman" because of politics. Interesting enough, one of the definitions of politics is "social relations involving intrigue to gain authority or power." Define the word intrigue and that says it all, doesn't it? FYI for "Former Republican Consultant" I think crema de langosta is lobster bisque in Spanish. I am totally jealous!
Sincerely,
Caretaker

My daddy always said "Massachusetts was the only state that knew enough to vote against Nixon!" Run a yellow dog on the Dem ticket and my family will vote for it -- comes from having two parents in unions.

But when it comes to Dole, it it absolutely the person I'm voting against.

When I read the post I thought perhaps that "republican person" just didn't want anyone to know he might vote "the right choice" oops..the "other choice".

I can't vote against L. Dole can I? Is this Bob's wife or related?
I must have missed something that would prevent me from having to ask.

WOW!! All these comments. Can I join the party even if I don't have anything germane to say about the subject? Wait a minute, I may. I was staying up at my and Clemens Grandparents when one of Grand Daddy's nephews came by to see if he were going to vote for George McGovern. Grand Daddy said he had always voted Democratic and he wasn't going to change now.
