I thought I would miss my weekly visit to Mellow Mushroom while here in the port city ....
... but I was wrong. MFH wanted to get together with Joey Sobrino and his sister Emily. My sister in law decided to come along and suggested ... Mellow Mushroom. Joey said fine, they have good beer! (a man after my own heart) Emily Sobrina was so well dressed we first thought she was going with some other group.
So off we went. Same menu, different line up of local beers on draught. The funniest thing is that the Mellow Mushroom in north port city is Yuppy haven.... very trendy.
So Clovis and Maeread may have had to go to Mellow Mushroom Boone without Uncle Oscar, but I made it to a Mellow Mushroom!

Well screw you; we didn't miss you, either! Actually, we didn't make it to the MM this Tuesday, much to Clovis' dismay. On Friday we went to Mulberry Street and watched them make pizza there. Yum
Tut tut. You know what I meant. I assumed you and the gang were living it up in the fleshpots of Watauga. Where and what is Mulberry Street?
Clovis didn't want to go to Cafe Portofino either, but he seems to have developed a healthy appetite at the last minute, if I remember correctly.
See you all in a few days.
Mulberry Street is the best restaurant in the High Country. Bar none. It's brand new and seriously fabulous. Someone brought a piece of Tuscany and dropped it onto Howard Street. The atmosphere is boisterous and fun, the service is great and the food fantastic. We had two four-year-olds with us: one ordered pizza so they made it in their wood-fired oven in the shape of Mickey Mouse, and the other requested spaghetti with meatballs no sauce and parmesan cheese. It wasn't on the menu (they don't have a kids menu), but just as in Italy, if they have the ingredients, the chef will make it up for the kids.
When shall we all go?
Thursday?
I'm going to stay up in the High Country that evening. Might need a place to stay. If you all are still talking to me.
Yes we're talking to you, but we won't be home till Saturday. You're still welcome to spend the night, though. Amy Hudnall has a key (Meghan is cat sitting) so you can borrow it and let yourself in. Enjoy the satellite.
Mulberry street is best with a crowd anyway, so maybe Sun night or another evening we could pursuade YFH to join us?
